Data & Intelligence Disclaimer
The limits of public records, automated explanations, estimates and illustrative content presented on this website or in our descriptions of Inspection Hunter.
Last updated
This website provides information and app descriptions, not live inspection predictions. Public records describe reported events; scores, summaries and estimates, where offered, are interpretations. Neither is a confirmed inspection appointment, an official determination or a guarantee of future results.
Current website and app scope
This website presents service information, educational illustrations and an Inspection Hunter overview. It does not provide live restaurant-record searches, personalized scores, account registration, document uploads or a customer database interface.
Descriptions of app capabilities explain the intended product; they do not establish that those capabilities are available through this website. Any separate application must explain its own features, sources, update timing and applicable terms. The limitations below apply to our website information and descriptions, and to other services only where expressly incorporated.
Independent services, not government agencies
Global Environmental and Inspection Hunter are independent of NYC DOHMH, FDNY, HPD, NYSDEC and other government agencies. A reference or link to an agency is not an endorsement, affiliation or grant of access to nonpublic agency systems.
Official notices, orders, inspection reports and agency decisions must be reviewed on their own terms. Our descriptions do not replace them.
Source records and interpretation are different
A source record is information attributed to its publisher for a particular date or event. A summary, explanation, risk label, readiness score, suggested mission or estimate is an interpretation of available information. It is not an official agency finding.
Any automated or AI-assisted interpretation may contain errors, omit context or misunderstand a record. Check the underlying source and relevant dates before relying on an interpretation for an important decision.
Coverage, freshness and missing information
Public datasets can contain missing or inconsistent fields, corrections and limited historical coverage. NYC’s restaurant inspection dataset identifies establishments by CAMIS and includes violation citations that are sustained or not yet adjudicated. It is not a complete archive of every document held by the City.
A missing search result does not prove that a restaurant has no inspection history or violations. An older record does not establish the premises’ condition today. Publication, retrieval and processing can occur at different times; we do not promise that every new event will appear immediately.
Business identity and historical addresses
Restaurants can change names, ownership, permits and locations. An address match alone may relate to a different operator or an earlier business. Review the available business identifier, name, address and event date together before attributing a record.
Historical findings should not be presented as findings against a current operator unless the underlying evidence supports that attribution.
Complaints, citations and full inspection files
A complaint or allegation is not the same as a verified finding. A violation code or brief description should not be expanded into a more specific allegation than the source supports. For example, a general pest-related citation does not by itself establish that pests were found in food.
Public summaries may not include an inspector’s complete narrative, attachments, photographs or later adjudication documents. Additional records may be available through the agency’s records-request process, subject to availability, exemptions and any applicable fees. We do not claim that public-data access includes the complete inspection file.
Risk, readiness and inspection estimates
A risk score, where offered, is an analytical indicator based on available inputs; it is not an agency risk classification or a measured probability unless a specific, validated methodology says so. A readiness score reflects the checks or evidence included in that assessment, not an official inspection score.
NYC restaurant inspections are unannounced. Any estimate or inspection window is uncertain and is not an appointment, countdown, insider schedule or confirmation that an inspector is approaching. A low indicator does not eliminate inspection or enforcement risk, and a high indicator does not establish a violation.
Do not delay addressing a known safety issue because of a score, estimate, missing alert or favorable historical record.
No guaranteed grade or regulatory outcome
Preparation tools and environmental services cannot guarantee an A grade, a particular inspection score, the absence of fines, avoidance of closure or permission to reopen. Daily operations, actual conditions and the responsible agency’s findings determine the outcome.
Website information and app descriptions are not legal, medical or emergency advice. Review current agency requirements and seek appropriate professional advice for the particular issue. This website is not an emergency-response service.
Illustrations and demonstrations
Service imagery, architectural artwork, generated illustrations, the cat-and-mouse interaction, mold effects and hood-fire animations are explanatory or promotional visuals. They are not photographs of completed work, measurements at your property or proof that a treatment works in every situation.
The hood sequence compresses time to illustrate a possible fire mechanism. A sprayer clearing the mold illustration does not mean a mold assessment includes remediation. Thermal imagery can indicate temperature differences but does not, by itself, identify mold, pests or a moisture source.
Questions, corrections and verification
If you believe information or an interpretation is wrong, send us the relevant page, source link, event date and business identifier, where available. Include only information you are authorized to share. We can review our presentation; a change to this website does not change an official agency record.
For a decision about your restaurant or property, verify the underlying record and current requirements with the responsible agency.
Database protection and permitted reuse
Our Terms of Service address database protection, automated access, proprietary compilation ownership and enforcement. Inclusion of a public record does not make the underlying facts our exclusive property. Original sources retain their own applicable terms; the website restrictions preserve the public-record and legal exceptions stated in the Terms of Service.
